We have an exciting opportunity for a Cannabis Compliance Manager to join us on our journey to transform our bold ambitions for the Missouri cannabis market into a reality. The Cannabis Compliance Manager will work closely with our General Counsel and Director of Security and Compliance to support the company’s compliance program and ensure that company owners, management, and employees achieve and sustain the highest level of compliance with all laws and regulations mandated by all governing and regulating bodies and agencies. This position is responsible for upholding Proper Cannabis’s mission, vision, goals, and objectives.
Our Cannabis Compliance Manager will work out of our facility in Rock Hill, MO, as well as Proper's other retail and manufacturing locations as needed. The salary starts at $75,000 and up depending on experience. Flexible scheduling is preferred.
Responsibilities

This will include but is not limited to the following:

  • Draft and proof Department of Cannabis Regulations (“DCR”) submissions and correspondence for accuracy and compliance;
  • Coordinate with general counsel to respond to DCR requests for information;
  • Support monthly audit processes, including reporting and resolution of any identified issues.
  • Research and review local ordinances and state regulations related to cannabis facilities and general business operations;
  • Provide compliance support to business units including accurate responses to questions or confirmations with respect to Missouri cannabis regulations (Article XIV and Department of Health and Senior Services Division 100 – Division of Cannabis Regulation – Chapter 1 – 19 CSR 100).
  • Review Metrc adjustments, waste logs, and assorted entries to ensure adherence to best practices and compliance standards;
  • Assist with packaging approval project to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
  • Integrate SOPs for Retail, MIP (Marijuana-Infused Products), Transportation, and Cultivation;
  • Review and update SOPs to align with regulatory requirements.
  • Verify and support retail, manufacturing, cultivation, and transportation training programs to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct routine compliance audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure ongoing adherence to regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older;
  • Ability to obtain a Missouri Agent ID by start date;
  • Bachelor's Degree (B.A., or B.S..,) from an accredited college;
  • 2-3+ years of relevant compliance experience;
  • Experience in regulatory analysis, with a strong preference for cannabis industry;
  • Ability to interpret and execute various state and federal specific cannabis regulations as they apply to the company (HIPAA, FDA, etc.);
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Applications (Windows, Outlook, Excel, and Word);
  • Experience with Metrc and cannabis point-of-sale systems preferred and experience leading inspections and audits and completing corrective action plans preferred;

Environment

This position requires the ability to work seated for several hours at a time and the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, occasionally. The work environment is an air-conditioned, smoke-free, office environment within a warehouse that produces cannabis products, as well as retail dispensaries. The constant exposure to cannabis particulates can be expected within this environment. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. This position may require travel up to 30% of the time between our warehouse and retail locations.
