Scope of Eligibility: Open to applicants who meet the requirements below.
Description: Under the limited supervision of a Master Aviation Mechanic or other supervisory official in a state department, agency or institution, performs those functions relevant to the analysis and correction of malfunctions in turbine powered aircraft; performs inspections and maintenance operations on powerplant and airframe components according to procedures mandated by aircraft manufacturers and Federal Aviation Administration standards; does other related duties as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree.
NOTE: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional experience as indicated on a year-for-year basis with thirty (30) semester hour credits being equal to one (1) year of experience.
Experience: Three (3) years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of helicopter and/or fixed wing aircraft, airframes, turbine powerplants and related components and systems.
License: Applicants must possess a valid Federal Aviation Administration approved Airframe and Powerplant certificate considered 'recent' by the following standards set forth in the Federal Aviation Regulation, Part 65, Section 65.83:
A certificated mechanic may not exercise the privileges of their certificate and rating unless, within the preceding twenty-four (24) months --
(a) The Administrator has found that they are able to do that work; or (b) has, for at least six (6) months -- (1)Served as a mechanic under their certificate and rating; (2) Technically supervised other mechanics; (3) Supervised, in an executive capacity, the maintenance or alteration of aircraft; or (4) Been engaged in any combination of paragraph (b) (1), (2), or (3) of this section.

Residency: All persons newly hired on or after September 1, 2011 have one year from the date of employment to establish, and then maintain principal residence in the State of New Jersey subject to the provisions of N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L.2011, Chapter 70), also known as the "New Jersey First Act".
