THE JOB:
It is the primary responsibility of the Crew Chief to schedule maintenance, provide operational support, and ensure that all tasks performed on dedicated aircraft meet or exceed standards set forth by the aircraft manufacturer, FAA and current company standards and polices regardless of whether performed in-house or by an off-site maintenance facility. The Crew Chief will ensure necessary parts are ordered; service performed and will coordinate with maintenance department management, other Crew Chiefs, vendors, and other company personnel to ensure safe, accurate, and timely completion of work. The Crew Chief will work with maintenance management as an inter-department liaison to ensure maintenance activities are coordinated with other MGM Resorts Int’l efforts and commitments in a timely manner. Manage, within their qualifications and experience, general services, repairs, and overhauls being performed on dedicated aircraft/engines ensuring each aircraft is in a good mechanical condition and safe for flight. The Crew Chief will make sure that all maintenance activities on dedicated aircraft are documented in accordance with current FAA, manufacturer, and department procedures /policies. All duties are to be performed in accordance with OEM, Departmental, and MGM Resorts International policies, practices and procedures.
THE DAY TO DAY:
- Possess a functional capability on standard computer software programs.
- Have working knowledge of programs such as Hazardous Waste Management, Safety Management Systems, Foreign Object Damage, Security, Part Management, and Time Accountability.
- Knowledgeable in Federal Aviation Regulations, Operation Specifications, Aircraft Maintenance Manuals, Company Polices/Procedures.
- Build work packages in support of maintenance being performed on dedicated aircraft, in-house or at an off-site maintenance facility.
- Responsible to ensure that dedicated aircraft and company aircraft are available to support flight operations, including cleaned and in position for flight.
- Oversee technicians and maintenance being performed either in-house or off-site on dedicated aircraft to ensure compliance with FAA regulations, Manufacturer, and company policies/procedures.
- Ensure appropriate maintenance technical data is available during the performance of maintenance, preventative maintenance, and alteration activities.
- Initiate part requisitioning for stock required for maintenance being performed. Inspect all incoming parts for defect and conformance.
- Ensure that preflight, thru flight, postflight inspections on company aircraft are completed and documented.
- Accompany dedicated aircraft to off-site maintenance facilities and on international flights when required.
- Ensure the maintenance department equipment and tools are maintained in good working safe order. Practice and enforce good housekeeping when working.
- Utilizes SMS Risk Analysis to identify and mitigate all potential safety issues for flight and ground operations.
- Researches, interprets and disseminates aircraft maintenance related information.
- Participate in periodic audits of departmental areas and advises management of discrepant areas.
- Advises maintenance management for concerns and recommendations involving maintenance on dedicated aircraft.
- Actively involved with day-to-day activities to include company aircraft maintenance schedule and flight support.
- Works closely with maintenance management to coordinate, schedule and conduct maintenance on dedicated aircraft.
- Participate in training to enhance the maintenance department operations. This training includes, but is not limited to, the following: Safety Management System training, Hazard Communication training, Golf Cart Training, Fall Protection training, Forklift training, Hearing Protection training, and General Operation Manual training.
SUPERVISION:
- Must supervise and oversee work done by numerous contract vendors and their employees. Must be able to access the project scope, and the qualifications of the individuals working on the project to determine feasibility and capability of the vendor. Must be able to supervise and mentor team members in an effort to allow each team member to reach their full potential as an employee.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Has one (1) year of aircraft maintenance and aircraft maintenance related management of complex aircraft.
- Has 4+ years of aircraft maintenance and aircraft maintenance related management of complex aircraft.
- Has a bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of FAR’s and regulatory requirements
- Capable of making time-dependent logistical decisions related to safety of flight, security, personnel and costs.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Must hold a valid US passport with no restrictions to travel.
- FAA Airframe and Power Plant License (Level 1-8 Only)
