Summary/Objective
An Automotive Technician will perform repair work and maintenance for cars, trucks, and other motor vehicles.
Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

- Identifies mechanical problems, either visually or with computer diagnostic equipment.
- Performs tests on specific parts and systems to confirm proper mechanical function; ensures that all critical parts are examined.
- Performs routine and preventive maintenance, including oil changes and tune-ups.
- Repairs or replaces malfunctioning parts and systems, such as brake pads, belts, water pumps, transmissions, and other mechanical parts.
- Performs further tests, which may include test driving the vehicle, to ensure repairs are completed correctly.
- Prepares and maintains records and reports.
- Ensures that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a customer friendly environment which includes greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining outstanding standards through quality and speed of service, solid technical knowledge, and all other components of customer service.
- Uses all shop equipment such as lifts, welders, diagnostic equipment, etc. with confidence and in accordance with all safety procedures.
- Routinely inspects, maintains, and makes necessary repairs and/or adjustments to machinery necessary for an efficient and safe work environment.
- Maintains leading-edge knowledge of automotive diagnosis technology, digital manuals, and reference materials.
- Adapts to rapidly changing technologies in the automotive industry, as well as in the diagnostics arena
- Knows and adheres to safety and environmental standards and practices for maintenance/repair facilities.
- Assumes a high level of responsibility for meeting all OSHA requirements.

Work Environment
This job operates in an automotive retail and repair environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving technical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear clearly. This position is active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, driving, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position, requiring 40 hours or more per week. Hours of business operations are Monday thru Saturday and Sunday at various locations. Hours of operation and days of work may vary by location and due to scheduling. This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.
Travel
This position requires up to 25% travel between stores.
Required Education, Credentials, and Experience
- Minimum age requirement of eighteen years.
- Active and unrestricted driver’s license.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Three or more years of related experience required.
- ASE Certification(s) preferred.
