As an A&P Mechanic II, you will perform basic repairs, replacement and maintenance of the key components of aircrafts. You'll support the necessary checks in regards to the mechanical and functional components of the aircraft, including the testing of and replacement of defective or faulty parts. You'll use a variety of tools and equipment to perform basic diagnosis on parts to be replaced, and ensure repairs and maintenance are compliant with national and international standards of work, all while maintaining safety and cleanliness of the hanger or workshop. You will demonstrate knowledge in one of the three main components of aviation maintenance including airframe maintenance, power plant mechanics, or Airframe & Power plant (A&P) components.
Employee will be responsible performing all types of aircraft maintenance on both piston and jet aircraft in the general aviation arena. Knowledge of piston, turboprop, and jet engines is required to accomplished troubleshooting, repair, and inspection. Some travel both domestic and international may be required to recover damaged aircraft or repair aircraft at the customer facility. Employee must be proficient in all aircraft manufacturer’s support manuals to allow complete research into required maintenance functions. Straight Flight is a very diverse facility that works on all types of aircraft from antique piston to large corporate jets.
Straight Flight is a subsidiary of Sierra Nevada Corporation since 2007 and is equipped with 3 18,000 square foot hangars with back shops for fabrication of both metal and composite parts, avionics repair, and painting projects. Straight Flight became a Certified Repair Station with the Federal Aviation Administration in 1992 and was rated by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency in 2007. Straight Flight currently holds a very impressive Operations Specification that includes 5 Class ratings.
Salary & Benefits
- 4 – day work week (minimum 40 hours a week)
- Day Shift 7:00AM to 5:30PM
- Salary range - $30 to $40 per hour depending on experience
- Company sponsored health benefits after 30 days

Must-haves:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent and typically 2 or more years of relevant experience
- A higher level degree may substitute for experience
- Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education
- Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Power plant certification with no prior FAA violations
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work locations
- Ability to speak, read and write in English
- Pass and maintain Class 3 Physical requirements, including a hearing test
- Ability to understand and interpret applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications, and service bulletins
- Must possess own hand tools to complete any maintenance function
- No limitations on confined space entry and ability to lift 50 pounds
- No drug or alcohol convictions within the last 5 years
- Participation in random drug and alcohol testing pool mandatory
- Background check applies – driving and criminal records reviewed
- Must have own tools in good working order
- Pass and maintain Class 3 Physical requirements, including a hearing test
Preferred:
- FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience
- Inspection Authorization (IA) rating
- Knowledge of Pratt & Whitney PT-6A engines
- Experience with computerized maintenance manuals
