JOB SUMMARY
Airframe and Powerplant Technician generally inspect, repairs, overhauls, upgrades, and cleans aircraft. A&P Technician’s also provide for the general and routine maintenance and do so in accordance with all Federal Aviation Administration regulations, all aircraft manufacturer's recommendation and all company policies and procedures. Additionally, A&P Technicians are required to maintain detailed records concerning all work conducted, inspections performed, conditions found, and safety compliance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Make required work order entries for discrepancies and corrective actions
- Parts identification, read and interpret Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC)
- Troubleshoot, inspect, test, repair, service aircraft and engine systems to prepare aircraft for flight. Initiate and document any nonconforming materials, hardware, software, tools, parts, assemblies, or portions thereof, according to specifications, processes, and procedures.
- Use technical specifications, sketches, manuals, drawings, engineering instructions and FAA forms and publications to accomplish work assignment.
- Maintains Company and FAA required records and inspection forms. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment. Plan and organize the sequence of your own work package in such a way as to promote safe, efficient operation and meet predetermined schedules in a timely manner.
- Operate all types of information systems required to perform assigned tasks. Including but not limited to Company WEB based systems and Microsoft Office products.
- Interpret and perform to the requirements of airworthiness directives, service bulletins, service letters and other approved/accepted data.
- Apply applicable mathematical calculations to setup and use precision measuring tools, to measure gaps, heights, angles, hole diameters and depths.
- Prepares and maintains documentation related to work activities in accordance with regulations and Company policies.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:

- Education – High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Completion of two years of trade of vocational school (or equivalent work experience) preferred.
- Certifications – FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate required.
- Prior Military experience a plus.
- Industry Related Experience - Aerospace/Airline/Aviation/FAA Compliance experience a plus.
- Maintenance Repair Operation (MRO) – prior MRO experience a plus (C-Check, Avionics, Disassembly, Induct & React, Storage, Modifications).
- Prior Fleet and or Airline Qualifications a plus.
- Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record required. Must successfully obtain a Driver badge through the Southern California Logistics Airport.
- Understands the differences of the required FAR’s.
- Proficiency in the use of tools applicable to performing basic sheet metal repairs and alterations
- Knowledge of basic aircraft maintenance and repairs
- Must be able to read and understand Company and Manufacturer Manuals.
- Must be able to perform all line maintenance functions unsupervised at any time.
- Ability to read and interpret aircraft drawing and schematics.
- Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Competencies) the individual must possess:
- Computer Skills – Must have a strong working knowledge of MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Corridor Go or other Maintenance or ERP systems experience a plus.
- Language & Communication Skills– Excellent written and verbal communication (English). Fluency in a second language, particularly Spanish, is a plus.

- Work is performed in an aircraft hangar and airport environment. Subject to standing for prolonged periods of time, work in confined aircraft interiors (confined workspaces), walking, kneeling, bending, reaching, grasping, sitting, pulling, climbing (climb ladders and or service stands), pushing, stooping, and stretching are required to perform the functions of this position.
- Must be able to climb and use a ladder, work stands, platforms and lift equipment.
- May occasionally be exposed to dangerous machinery, extreme noise, and physical harm in areas requiring hard hats, safety glasses, and steel-toed safety shoes.
- Must be able to lift, carry, and move objects up to 50 pounds or more on a regular basis.
- Must be willing to work in an environment that is subject to changing climate conditions and moderate noise levels.
- Must have normal or corrected hearing.
- Visual acuity must be a minimum of 20/40 corrected.
- Must be able to wear and breathe through a full-face respirator.
- May be exposed to hazardous chemicals/environment necessitating the use of safety equipment.
