This is a part-time weekend position with occasional week day shift (Approximately 24 hours per week).
The employee shall perform any combination of the following duties:
- Provide “follow-me” and marshaling services to ensure the safe direction and movement of transient aircraft to and from designated parking areas.
- Prepare for aircraft arrival, preposition, and inspect all required equipment such as fire extinguishers, ladders, chocks, ground wires, powered and non-powered AGE, and any other items required for aircraft recovery, prior to aircraft arrival.
- Ensure that transient aircraft parking and work areas are clear of foreign objects before and after an aircraft arrival/departure. Inspect aircraft parking area for foreign objects, which may cause foreign object damage (FOD).
- Remove any such objects prior to marshalling aircraft into parking spot.
- Coordinate ramp sweeper when required with Base Operations.
- Coordinate minor aircraft maintenance on airframe systems, electrical systems, landing gear systems, pneudraulic systems, utility systems, engines, or other systems as the flight crew require.
- Perform routine inspections and general servicing of aircraft to ensure safe operation of the aircraft.
- Coordinate general aircraft servicing refueling, defueling, deicing, and checking fluid levels on hydraulic systems and engines IAW technical manuals.
- Assist the AGE Mechanic in the following:
- Wash ground support equipment
- Perform periodic inspections, oil changes and all unscheduled maintenance on 80 pieces of ground support equipment.
- Orders Parts as required.
Required Experience, Training & Certifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Thorough working knowledge of all systems.
- Capable of operating support equipment.
- Be able to use electronic tech data (e-tools).
- Knowledge of Air Force maintenance publications.
- Ability to document maintenance utilizing the Integrated Maintenance Data System. Training to include appropriate Air Force Tactical Aircraft Maintenance technical school.
- Must have at least one (1) year of recent (within the past three (3) years) aircraft maintenance experience; e.g., aircraft arrival, ground handling, processing, departure, and towing, which shall be documented in personnel and/or training records. Examples of certification are military training and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) airframe and power plant license.
Physical Demands
- This position requires normal physical functions.
- Work may require frequent bending, reaching and climbing.
- May frequently lift and carry items weighing up to fifty pounds and occasionally lift heavier items with the assistance of other workers.
- May be required to work in areas in the hangar and on the flight line that are noisy and dusty.
- May be exposed to moderate discomforts, such as heat, cold and wind.
- May be required to wear personal protective equipment when applicable.
Required Security Clearance Eligibility:
- Applicant must be a US Citizen and able to pass a background check with the Department of Defense.
