We are currently seeking an experienced Avionics Technician to join our team.

Sterling Helicopter is an authorized dealer of helicopter avionics for Garmin, Jupiter Avionics, AeroLeds, Appareo, Genesys Aerosystems, and many more. Our clients trust us for a variety of helicopter GPS and flight deck installations, and much more, including: communications/navigation equipment, ADS-B transponders/UATs, GPS, ALE mission equipment, integrated helicopter flight decks, satellite communication systems, audio systems, LED lighting, in-flight connectivity, and EFB equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot, test, remove, repair, replace avionics and instrument wiring and systems.
  • Utilize technical knowledge to repair aircraft discrepancies efficiently.
  • Analyze test and/or performance data to assess equipment operation.
  • Order necessary parts to complete the job.
  • Test electrical equipment and/or systems to ensure proper functioning.
  • Enter description of work performed on work orders.
  • May accompany flight crew to perform in-flight evaluation, troubleshooting and adjustments of avionics and instrument systems.
  • Maintain avionics test equipment and work area as required.

Required Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant license preferred.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • 3-5 years Avionics Technician experience in civilian aviation
  • Airbus, Bell, Leonardo and Sikorsky civilian helicopter experience preferred.
  • FCC GROL or ASTM NCATT Aircraft Electronics Technician certification

Job Conditions and Environment:

  • Authorized OEM Service Center for Bell Helicopter, Airbus Helicopter, Safran, Rolls‐ Royce, and Pratt & Whitney.
  • FAR Part 145 Repair Station – Bell Helicopter, Airbus Helicopter, MD Helicopter, Sikorsky, & Agusta
  • Over 30,000 sq. ft. of hangar space
  • 670 sq. ft. spare parts room for parts inventory and tool control
  • 485 sq. ft. component overhaul shop
  • NiCad battery shop
  • Safran Engine Shop
  • May travel to remote locations on occasion for emergency repairs or inspections.
  • Must be available for nights or weekends if the need arises.

Job Qualifications:

  • A valid Driver’s License
  • A valid FAA A&P license or ability to obtain a Repairman certificate.
  • A complete set of tools designed for aircraft maintenance.
  • Ability to use a computer.
  • Complete favorable pre-employment screenings.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to read small print and identify colors.
  • Ability to tolerate in confined spaces and heights above four feet.
  • Ability to tolerate standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, and repetitive motion.
  • Ability to tolerate working in extreme temperatures and noisy environments.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $33.00 - $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
