Job purpose

The Warehouse Assistant Manager is responsible for maintaining shipping/receiving, distribution of parts to customers, maintains warehouse organization and cleanliness and directs the work of warehouse associates. They are responsible for ensuring that the inventories are packaged according to requirements, organized, and stored well. This job requires organizational skills, good communication abilities, supervisory and leadership skills, budgeting, time management, and multitasking. The Warehouse Assistant Manager oversees all activities of that facility, which often involves overseeing team performance, expediting the receiving and shipping of goods, and ensuring efficient, organized storage areas.

The hours required for this position are 3pm – 11pm, Monday – Friday.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Maintains receiving and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing program, operational, and personnel policies and procedures.
  • Maintains warehouse staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Maintain the storage warehouse in a neat, orderly, and efficient fashion to ensure FIFO and traceability.
  • Overseeing receiving and storing of all standard storeroom stock and special-order parts.
  • Oversee inventory and maintain proper stock levels by devising appropriate amounts to assure adequate quantities are available
  • Obtain quotes and negotiate comparative prices, order parts from vendors, and work within budget constraints.
  • Possess strong computer skills with the ability to use typical office programs.
  • Ensure that all inventory transactions are properly documented in accordance with standard operating procedures.
  • Act as the warehouse manager in his/her absence.

· Set warehouse and team goals in collaborations with executive management and other team leads

· Monitor work performance and lead training initiatives to improve employees

  • Operate forklift and other basic lifts and labor-saving devices.
  • Practice safe warehouse procedures, identify potential hazards, and recommend improvements to standard procedures.

· Hires, trains, and provides leadership to direct reports.

· Procurement and Supply chain management responsibilities.

· Provides leadership for establishing and maintaining a safe work environment.

· Proactively addresses and corrects all unsafe behaviors and conditions.

  • Perform related tasks as required.

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

· Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred

· 2 to 5 years’ experience working in a warehouse.

· The ideal candidate will have experience in the following: leadership, conflict resolution, emotional intelligence, adaptability, positive attitude, strong sense of urgency with the ability to multitask, the ability to direct others, customer service experience, good verbal and written communication, computer proficiency, good work ethic, honest, dependable.

· Knowledge of material flow in a manufacturing environment. Understanding of Business Operations. Accuracy. Knowledge of Production Control and Logistics, Ability to Meet Deadlines. Steel, Forging, Automotive experience a plus, but not required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
