Position: Technical Writer and Editor
Location: Irvine, CA – Onsite Required
Position Description:

DZYNE Technologies LLC is seeking an experienced Technical Writer and Editor to expand the capabilities.
Required Skills and Responsibilities:
  • Under general supervision, this position is responsible for researching, documenting and developing detailed operator, maintenance and troubleshooting procedures, checklists, technical specifications, alert bulletins, training materials and other procedures and reports
  • Ensures final materials clearly and effectively communicate the technical information and data to appropriate audiences; ensures documents are developed in accordance with the requested specifications; and collects and accumulates appropriate technical information through researching and analyzing technical data and publications, test plans, design specifications/documentation, software description documents, engineering documents and by interviewing technical experts
  • Plans, coordinates and leads efforts of a small team to complete a project
  • Writes, rewrites and/or edits technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate clearly and effectively technical specifications and instructions to a wide range of audiences
  • Acquires subject knowledge by interviewing product developers, observing performance of production methods, referring to technical specifications, blueprints, engineering illustrations, and trade journals
  • Oversees preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams and charts
  • Conducts quality review of materials
Required Qualifications:
  • Must demonstrate an excellent technical understanding of military or commercial systems, and technical writing/editing principles, theories and concepts as well as have knowledge of the development of technical manuals and documentation
  • Must have knowledge of computer-based tools in the production of technical documentation
  • The ability to grasp new concepts quickly
  • The ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information
  • The ability to identify issues and recognize deviations from accepted practices and processes
  • Basic analytical, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document and report
  • Knowledge of computer operations and applications
  • Development of Microsoft Word document templates
  • Ability to work both independently and lead in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
  • Development experience for System Requirement Specifications, System/Subsystem Design Documents, Interface Control Documents, Test Plans, Test Reports, design review briefs for DoD systems
  • Understanding of DoD CDRL Data Item Descriptions and Forms
Education/Experience:
  • Typically requires education or formal training equivalent to the completion of an associate's degree in a related discipline and three or more years progressive experience in a technical field
  • May substitute equivalent professional experience in lieu of education/training
Clearance Level Required: Secret Clearance not required but is highly desired.
Travel: Up to 20%

Salary: $80k - $125k
Salary depends on relevant work experience, education, training, essential skills, and/or other factors such as specialized or high-demand professions. In addition to the annual salary, the position will be eligible for an annual bonus. The pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of salary or annual bonus.
