Description:
Hiring Structural Engineer to develop structural designs for renovations and upgrades to existing buildings at a federal site in Indian Head, MD, supporting the Energetic Comprehensive Modernization Plan which encompasses modernization of the Indian Head base designed to enhance the Navy's capacity for munitions production, addressing immediate demands and preparing for future surge and replenishment needs.
Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field
- A minimum of 5 years experience required, 10+ years is preferred
- Professional Engineer License is preferred, but not required
- At least 5 years of experience with designing structural components for industrial or commercial buildings (Vertical Structures)
- Experience working with AutoCAD and SolidWorks
- Ability to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Active Security clearance or eligibility to obtain Secret Clearance
Responsibilities:
- Primarily requires development of requirements and technical review of design packages as well as occasional design work
- Prepare design packages (including structural and/or civil engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates) for renovation projects such as roof replacements, building reconfigurations, additions, or adjustments due to a change in facility use or utilities such as HVAC upgrades or electrical modifications
- Conduct technical reviews of design packages created by others to assess compliance with applicable building codes, and regulations as well as end-user requirements
- Provide technical input to proposal development for renovation projects
- Support design process from concept through delivery of completed design package
- Prepare technical memoranda/reports that summarize information, such as requirements or the basis of design
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with other stakeholders internal to, and external to, the design team (e.g., engineering department, manufacturing department)
- Serve as a project manager and/or design manager on some assigned projects
- Prepare fact sheets, structural analysis, investigative and observation reporting for facilities and facility components where areas of concern or identified
- Complete facility design services and support the review of designs for compliance with code and energetic manufacturing processes to help our client realize state-of-the-art facilities through construction and commissioning
