Senior Security Engineer


As a pivotal member of the Vigilant team, the role of Senior Security Engineer is essential in maintaining the robustness and effectiveness of our clients' cybersecurity platforms. Your responsibilities will include close collaboration with clients to comprehensively grasp their unique security requirements, enabling the development and implementation of solutions to fortify their infrastructure against the ever-evolving landscape of cyber threats.


Primary Responsibilities


  • Oversee and participate in the planning, development, and implementation of security solutions
  • Provide guidance and support to clients on security-related issues, and participate in client meetings and presentations as needed
  • Administer and maintain the Crowdstrike tenants across our client fleet including configuration of all policies, user provisioning, tenant provisioning, and day to day upkeep of the platform
  • Provide network services including installing, configuring, and integrating network security technologies.
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to increase productivity and maintain high quality deployments.
  • Partner with vendors and internal partners to design and optimize security solution deployments.
  • Work closely with developers to implement reliable, manageable, and secure solutions that meet Vigilant standards and add client value.
  • Identify performance issues, interpret trends (e.g., traces of network traffic), and implement improvements within sensor grid
  • Write documentation, including policies and procedures. Create diagrams, including solution designs.
  • Train and mentor staff including formal training sessions, one-on-one sessions, and recommending training vendors.
  • Internal platform and user services including but not limited to:
    • Communication platform
    • VPN Services
    • SSO
  • Participate in special projects and performs other related duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Undergraduate degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Information technology experience working as a Systems Admin, Cloud Admin, and/or Security Admin
  • Previous experience NSM technologies
  • Working understanding of code and scripting (e.g. Bash, Python, Salt, Puppet, Ansible, Terraform etc.)
  • Strong analysis and problem solving skills.
  • Exhibit passion, patience, and perseverance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group.
  • Ability to present to all levels of clients about security technologies Outstanding problem-solving skills.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Network architecture designs technical standards and deliverables
  • Expert ability to configure open source NSM technologies
  • Troubleshooting tools (e.g., log analysis and network traces) in a distributed grid configuration
  • Software and hardware installation and configuration (network sensors as part of a sensor grid)


Other Requirements


This role leverages a flex-schedule that, although not standard, may involve nontraditional working hours from time to time. Must be able to work from the Vigilant office (Cincinnati, OH) or remotely from a home office in Ohio, depending on the candidate's skills and experience. This position is eligible to US citizens physically residing in the US, any offer of employment is contingent upon background, drug screen, and reference checks.
