Job Summary

As an Security Threat Eng II, you’ll be on a team responsible for implementing and maintaining enterprise-wide threat detection sensors, tools, and solutions within HCA Healthcare’s hybrid network environment, developing and maintaining signatures and alerting for use in our Cyber Defense Center. Senior team members are available to guide your onboarding and growth, and this position offers occasional cross-team training to aid in understanding other cybersecurity roles.

With a primary focus on cloud security technologies, you’ll work with tool and technology owners to onboard and curate log and telemetry feeds into the SIEM, ensuring that events are properly parsed and analyzed automatically by new and existing threat detection systems. You’ll also have opportunities to grow your security, data analytics, and querying/scripting skills through training, continuing education, vendor-led classes.

Education and Experience:

• High School Graduate/ Equivalent Required
• Bachelors Degree in related field Preferred
• 3+ years of related experience

Qualifications:

Required:

• 1+ years of Information Security experience, preferably in a Blue Team/Cyber Defense/SOC role.
• Experience with building threat detection rules, correlations, and/or logic in a SIEM tool.

Optional, nice to have skills:

• Experience, training, or degrees in data analytics, data visualization, data science.
• Experience with building Splunk dashboards and visualizations.
• Functional knowledge of any of the following query languages:
• • Splunk’s Search Processing Language (SPL)
  • Kusto Query Language (KQL)
  • Google BigQuery
  • Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Regular Expressions (RegEx)
• Functional knowledge of any of the following scripting languages:
• • Python 3.x
  • Bash
  • PowerShell
• Understanding of attacker tactics and frameworks (e.g. MITRE ATT&CK, Cyber Kill Chain, etc.)
• Basic knowledge of cloud computing and threats related to cloud environments.
