TITLE: Quality Manager FLSA: Exempt
DIVISION: ALL REPORTS TO: President KMC

Summary
The Quality Manager provides leadership, direction and accountability on all issues related to quality as defined by our customers and continuous improvement of processes across all organizational functions at KMC.
Essential Functions
  • Drive methodical process improvement throughout the organization through structured deployment of continuous improvement techniques and tools
  • Elevate a quality focus and accountability at all levels of the organization and with all suppliers, including sister sites
  • Establish, track and report key KPI’s to management and the organization to drive continuous improvement in customer-defined quality and internal operational effectiveness
  • Lead cross-functional teams to predict, mitigate and prevent quality issues throughout the order to delivery process
  • Lead cross-functional teams to perform root cause analyses and corrective action implementation for quality issues.
  • Mentor key people throughout the organization on process improvement, lean techniques and quality control
  • Administer the warranty process, collecting data from appropriate channels and driving root cause remedies through the entire supply chain
  • Create and disseminate KPI reports regarding quality, warranty and process improvement
  • Administrate and oversee all certification activities such as QS, ISO, etc.
  • Administrate and oversees process documentation system BIC Cloud for the site, including regional sister sites.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have any direct reports.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment in our Florence facility. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines which create low-moderate noise. Additionally, while performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and forklifts as a result of time on manufacturing floors. The noise level in the work environment can be loud.

  • The employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness required.
Expected Hours of Work

This is a salaried, exempt level, full-time position with standard working days/hours of Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm with additional time as necessary to complete required tasks. Actual working hours may vary based on needs of customers. Must be willing to work long hours as dictated by the situation. This will periodically include evenings and weekends.
Travel
Travel is moderate, primarily in a multi-regional area and during the business day, although out-of-the-area and overnight travel will occur. Travel to Germany or other international location is likely for training/conferences/meetings. Anticipated travel is 50%, mainly domestic, in particular to customer sites.
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or related engineering discipline
  • Strong statistical and problem-solving capability, Six Sigma Black Belt Preferred
  • 3-8 years’ experience in continuous improvement or quality management
  • Demonstrated leadership in driving process improvement
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across varying geographic locations simultaneously
  • Willingness to work in a strong cross functional environment
  • Proven technical knowledge and ability to collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers
  • Comfortable working in a manufacturing / production environment
  • 3+ years working with machinery customer service management
  • High level of diplomacy and tact to work with customers
  • Internal management system auditing skill preferred
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Engineering, statistics, business or similar advanced degree
  • Experience working for a large, multi-national employer
  • Experience in Machinery and Equipment manufacturing
  • Experience managing a small team
