QAL Fumigator/Logistics Supervisor

Employment Information

The QAL Fumigator and Logistics Supervisor will oversee daily inventory management and logistics functions as well as coordinate incoming harvest loads at Grower Direct. QAL Fumigator is responsible for identifying, selecting, mixing and applying chemicals or manual solutions and changing of traps, bait, killing insects, rodents etc. It is their duty to inform FSQA, QC, and Micro Lab Manager and upper management of any discrepancies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Responsible for monitoring and recording the attendance of their team members.

· Develop and manage budgets for logistics operations, ensuring that expenses stay within allocated funds.

· Schedules manpower to ensure delivery by promised deadlines.

· Monitors inventory via an enterprise resource planning system or similar control system.

· Analyze the root causes of delivery problems, such as delays, damages, or incorrect deliveries.

· Analyzes inventory procedures; recommends updates and improvements to logistics Manager.

· Identify and remove invading pests, including rats, termites, snakes, wasps, ants, spiders or mosquitoes.

· Travel between the two Facilities. (Geer Rd. and Service) Plant & Inshell locations.

· Communicating supply needs back to management to allow for timely ordering.

· Interaction with Sanitation / Pest Control Supervisor, FSQA Manager, Operators, Co-workers.

· Clean and remove pesticides after application as well as cleaning the worksite after completion of job.

· Follows and ensures adherence to established Grower Direct Nut Co., local, state, and federal regulations and requirements as well as food safety, sanitation, food production and nutritional guidelines. Treats commodities using fumigation.

· Established and ensures adherence to procedures and standards, which are in agreement with these regulations, requirements and guidelines.

· Spray or dust chemical solutions, powders, or gases into rooms, furnishings, wood, over marshlands, ditches, or catch basins.

· Provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.

· Communicate with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. This information can be exchanged in person, in writing, or by telephone or e-mail.

· Monitor and review information from materials, events, or the environment to detect or assess problems.

· Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. Fumigate buildings, machines, and stockpiles.

· Analyze information and evaluate results to choose the best solution and solve problems.

Additional functions:

· Handle the proper application of crop protection products.

· Monitor pest activity in all GDN facilities.

· Operate all fumigation equipment.

· Maintain all fumigation equipment calibrated and ready for use on a daily basis.

· Mix, load, and apply pesticides/fertilizers.

· Perform daily vehicle inspections.

· Handle packaged chemicals.

· Clean and maintain equipment.

· Maintain application/spray records.

· Operate forklift occasionally

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities are not limited to the above mentioned and may include assisting other departments within reasonable and related tasks.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Physical demands

o Will frequently stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle and feel, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear, taste and smell.

o Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

o Will occasionally sit and occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel crouch or crawl.

o Must use both hands for rapid mental muscular coordination, simultaneously.

o Must be able to reach high and low levels, frequently.

o Must be able to push/pull/lift with arms below waist/at shoulder/above shoulder level up to 35 pounds frequently.

o Must lift with arms up to floor to waist, waist to shoulder 35 pounds.

o Must be able to constantly stand/stoop/walk/bend, up to 12 hrs.

o Ability to strenuous flex/grip with wrist/hands frequently (15 flexion/minute).

Work environment

o May work near moving mechanical parts.

o May work around wet or humid conditions, in high, precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, extreme cold (non-weather), extreme heat (non-weather), risk of electrical shock, and/or risk of vibration.

QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

1. High School Diploma or equivalent required

2. Two to Five years’ experience in a Shipping Warehouse required.

3. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

4. Extensive knowledge of export regulations and procedures.

5. Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

6. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

7. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

8. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

9. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

10. Proficiency with computerized distribution systems.

11. Excellent communication skills.

12. Ability to perform basic math functions.

13. Must be able to work overtime and/or weekends as needed.

14. Pest Control Licensed required.

15. Have a valid CA driver license without restrictions.

16. CDL required.

17. QAL/QAC required.

18. Chemical application education preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
