JOB SUMMARY:

The Production Manager assigns and supervises production work to ensure the quality and timeliness of shipments to meet customers’ needs. Production Manager will perform the following duties either personally or through others.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):

  • Directly supervise/manage 25-30 employees• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws• Hire and train employees• Plan, assign and direct work• Appraise performance along with VP of Operations• Reward and discipline employees• Address complaints and resolve issues
  • Open the building every morning: unlock doors, turn on lights and boiler room• Go to each area of workspace and line up work according to status report from previous day• Check time clock to see who has reported to work and assign workers to all areas• Walk through work areas several times daily to ensure work is being done as assigned• Respond to questions from workers regarding assignments• Monitor inventory and complete requisition for materials as needed – submit to VP of Operations• Coordinate with Sales the appropriate packaging for finished product - get approvals for boxes• Monitor flow of work ensuring all workers have assignments - check to see what has been re-prioritized by workers and the Sales Department• Call for equipment repair in the absence of the VP of Operations• Load/unload trucks before and after regular hours• After lunch - Visit Shipping, Balancing, Paint Area to check the status of orders• Respond to rework issues, coordinating with Sales and workers• Match packing slips with purchase orders to verify completeness and accuracy; staple, date and take to VP Operations• Use computer to research order status when needed• Oversee new employee training• Approve vacations• Assign overtime based on production needs• Complete injury report• And most importantly, as a leader, consistently represent the CRC brand and our company values boosting worker moral and desire to perform quality work

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • High school education REQUIRED• College-level education or equivalent experience STRONGLY PREFERRED• Five to ten years of related experience or training in rubber manufacturing or equivalent combination of education and experience• Has managed a safety program or works with consultant• Assists in feasibility and development of new products• Coordinates production or sales problem solving

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid State of Wisconsin driver’s license• Forklift certification• Lockout/Tag out

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be an effective communicator, organized and detail oriented• Must be a team player who can work effectively with others in all departments• Regular attendance is REQUIRED• Computer literacy (database, word processing, spreadsheet) REQUIRED• Must wear safety glasses when in shop

WORK ENVIRONMENT: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
