SUMMARY: The purpose of the Production Manager position is to plan, direct and coordinate the operations of assigned area. The production manager is responsible for ensuring and improving the performance, productivity, efficiency, and profitability of plant operations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Primary functions

• Coordinate, manage, and monitor overall productivity
• Review financial data and utilize to improve profitability
• Prepare and control plant budget and variances
• Prepare and monitor labor plan and labor cost
• Develop methods to improve yields
• Manage cost per ton
• Prepare and execute production plan; improve processes and policies in support of goals
• Maintain and analyze quality parameters within customer specs
• Facilitate communication between support functions
• Liaison with upper management; assist with and contribute to short and long term organizational planning and strategy

Secondary functions

• Lead in coaching and disciplinary actions with associates
• Investigate and report all accidents/incidents
• Suggest and implement cost-saving ideas
• Work closely with plant and shift leads
• Serve as back up for Operations Manger

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in food manufacturing operations
• Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills
• Understanding of cause and effect of all operations
• Knowledge of product / customer specifications
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office software

WORKING CONDITIONS:

• Must be able to work in both a hot humid environment as well as a cold wet conditions for up to 12 hours at a time
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs on an a frequent basis, including lifting at shoulder level or above
• Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs on an infrequent basis
