Headquartered in Fort Wayne, IN, WaterFurnace designs and manufactures ultra-efficient, renewable-energy comfort products that provide heating, cooling and potable hot water solutions for use in both homes and commercial buildings. We employ more than 315 people in R&D, Manufacturing, Marketing, and Sales roles across the US and Canada. For almost four decades, our Geothermal Heat Pumps, Water Source Heat Pumps, and Heat Recovery Chillers have been reducing energy usage consumption and increasing comfort in buildings around the world.


We are looking for local candidates only. No relocation or sponsorship is available for this position.


Job Summary:

  • This position will be responsible for supporting projects for both Residential and Commercial product development. The role will require the candidate to work on simulation programs for refrigeration cycles, generate and analyze performance and catalog data for geothermal heat pumps and chillers, and support product development projects under the supervision of a Senior Product Engineer.
  • Assist senior engineers in the design of or improvement of assigned products and/or parts in a timely and effective manner to confirm quality and cost objectives are met.
  • Model vapor compression systems using VapCyc and Coil Designer to evaluate product performance
  • Support senior engineers in conducting tests and assist technicians with executing test plans in laboratories
  • Generate technical documentation for use within the company and/or with suppliers
  • Analyze drawings and BOM’s to validate accuracy
  • Provide necessary support and interface with lab technicians to address issues under the supervision of a senior engineer
  • Provide technical collaboration with technicians, drafters and/or model makers as needed

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study is required
  • High level of self-motivation and integrity
  • Effective and professional communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot, collaborate and brainstorm with other team members
  • Proven broad analytical perspective that leverages the collective knowledge of the organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, and other analytical programs, with the ability to quickly master new software applications
  • Proficiency in programming languages including MatLab, Python, C++ or equivalent
  • Strong interpersonal skills and decision making ability

Preferred

  • Minimum 2 years experience in HVAC modeling/design or similar engineering field or a MS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field of study
