Beacon Community Fitness is seeking a Personal Trainer at our Scarborough, Maine location. Our goal is to build a healthier and more connected community with a maximum buffer from illness or injury by utilizing effective, efficient, and fun fitness. We design programs to help members achieve their fitness goals inside and outside the gym. Beacon members are guided, motivated, and coached every step of the way through unique and structured workouts.

Beyond fitness, Beacon is a community of strong, healthy individuals who work hard, play hard, and have fun! We are invested in our members and support them not only in the gym but also with life achievements outside the gym.

We are currently looking for a professional and experienced trainer to share their passion for fitness with our members. The role of the trainer will be to exude the vision and mission of Beacon which is, to create a community dedicated to getting fit, having fun, and making meaningful connections.

We are seeking a highly motivated, fitness enthusiast who will follow and respect our core values and coaching techniques.

Responsibilities:

The Personal Trainer is responsible for the following:

  • Assess new clients and design and implement a unique training program for them to achieve their goals.
  • Create a professional, safe, fun, and productive atmosphere for clients.
  • Understand and demonstrate functional movements, understand and explain the methodology, and have the necessary skills to scale and modify movements and/or workouts for any ability level and/or physical limitation that a member may have.
  • Start and end sessions on time.
  • Sign in and account for all members attending each class and keep an accurate schedule in our software.
  • Keep accurate records of training sessions
  • Wear the proper coaching attire.
  • Handle membership inquiries; provide information about our program and schedule intro sessions. Assist with sales of new memberships and merchandise.
  • Collaborate with other health/wellness professionals who are working with the same client to create a cohesive program.
  • Teach additional programs such as endurance programs, strength clinics, etc. (Continued education required.)
  • Participate in community events that take place throughout the year.
  • Provide members with health and fitness guidance on various topics that will empower them to lead healthy lives.
  • Assist in keeping all the gym area and equipment clean and organized.
  • At Beacon, our members' safety and happiness are of the utmost importance, followed closely by the achievement of their goals, as well as the camaraderie and community among members and staff. It will be up to you as the Coach to lead by example and, on a daily basis, foster and strengthen the community we have created.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • NCAA
  • NASM
  • ACE
  • CPR/First aid/AED Training

Estimated Time Commitment:

  • 8 to 15 training hours per week
  • 1+ hours a week conducting new member intro sessions and current member goal reviews.
  • Weekly 30-minute coaches meeting
  • Monthly hour-long all-staff meeting
  • Quarterly half-day training
  • Encouraged and challenged to assist in the development of new programs and services.
  • Work on individual projects, and implement other initiatives under the direction of the owner.
  • Opportunities to earn more revenue through other programs, activities, or initiatives set forth by the owners.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $62.50 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 35 per week

Experience:

  • Personal training: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Group fitness: 1 year (Required)

License/Certification:
