POSITION SUMMARY

The U.S. Space Force protects our country and the freedom to operate in space, keeping it secure, stable and accessible for military space power and new waves of innovation.

To complete missions, our engineers’ technology simply cannot fail. We look for a wide range of specialties from human factors to mechanical engineering. With advanced skills and knowledge of their specialties, our engineers are responsible for everything from the planning to implementation. CAREER DUTIES

  • Plan, organize and implement system engineering processes.
  • Conduct design studies and manage contracted industries.
  • Coordinate engineering and technical management activities.
  • Continuously analyze technical policies and procedures, products, and services to improve customer support.
  • Identify and incorporate new technologies and subsystems.

BASE SALARY

Every active-duty Guardian is paid equally based on rank and years of service. From the moment you put on your uniform, you’re eligible for additional compensation based on your job and station.

INSURANCE

Guardians and their families receive top-of-the-line, low-rate insurance plans. Each has comprehensive medical and dental care at military or civilian facilities. Additionally, we provide full pay and allowances for sick days and life insurance.

RETIREMENT

Guardians receive a generous retirement plan within the Blended Retirement System. The benefits are similar to many civilian 401(k) plans with employer-matched contributions. This plan combines two main sources of retirement savings: a monthly retirement income for Guardians who serve a minimum of 20 years and the Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which includes automatic and matching government contributions.

RECREATION

Most Space Force bases are equipped with golf courses, tennis courts, swimming pools, full-service gyms and arts-and-crafts facilities. All are either free to use or are available at lower rates than similar facilities off base.

VACATION AND TRAVEL

All military Guardians get 30 days of vacation with pay per year. They can travel on Air Force aircraft to almost any U.S. state and many international destinations. Additionally, for destinations near military facilities, Guardians qualify for reduced-rate hotel lodging.

EDUCATION

Enlisting in the Space Force offers a wide range of educational opportunities including scholarships for Guardians who wish to pursue ongoing education. Enlisted Guardians can receive up to 100 percent tuition assistance through the Air Force Tuition Assistance Program, the Montgomery GI Bill or Post-9/11 GI Bill. Members select which option to take based on what’s best for them.

QUALIFICATIONS

This job requires military service with a contract as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Space Force. The application is for a specific position within the U.S. Space Force.

MINIMUM EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering related to one of the following specialties: aeronautical, aerospace, astronautical, computer, electrical, electronics, communication or mechanical
  • Completion of the Defense Acquisition University
  • Fundamentals of Systems Acquisition Management course or Acquisition Fundamentals course
  • Completion of the Air Force Flight Test Engineer course or comparable
  • Minimum of 24 months’ experience in a qualified position, a master’s degree in specified discipline and 12 months’ experience, or a Doctor of Philosophy degree in a specified discipline
  • Completion of Officer Training School (OTS), Air Force Academy (USAFA) or Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC)
  • Must be between the ages of 18 and 39
