Job Title: Mechanical Engineer Department: Engineering

Basic Function:

Design, development, testing and field support of new products; revision and updating of standard products; technical input to SBT system regarding Bills of Material (BOM) and product configuration.

Major Duties:

As assigned and in conjunction with approved project budgets or released work orders: design, develop, test and submit for approval new products and revisions to standard products; evaluate components and subsystems purchased from others for inclusion in Daisy's products.

Provide field support and product maintenance for Daisy's customers; evaluate and monitor total system performance of Daisy's products in customers' applications.

Assist the Engineering Manager in providing technical support to the Sales and Production Departments for quotations and contract performance.

Upon request, provide customer support backup for Sales and Quality Departments.

Maintain Independent Agency Approvals for current and future products.

Support the Engineering Manager in developing Engineering Department technical and product development budgets; monitor assigned projects as to schedule and cost performance.

Support the Engineering Manager with core development, product development/design maintenance and product improvements.

Supervision Exercised:

Project supervision of Designers and Engineering Technicians.

Supervision Received:

This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager; design policy and technical direction is given via Engineering Department policies and procedures. Direct supervision is in the form of goals and deadlines; works for significant periods of time without direct supervision.

Responsibilities and Authority:

Employee Relations - Must maintain harmonious working relations with in-house personnel, effectively coordinating and communicating project information to achieve successful results.

Material and Products - Regular use of common electronic test and measurement equipment and PC computers is expected; handling of raw materials, components, sub-assemblies and finished products is a regular part of this position. NOTE: Some material and products may be hazardous if not handled properly.

Money - No authorization for expenditures; all requests for equipment, supplies, Engineering Technician labor, etc. must be written up on a standard requisition form, including appropriate budgetary and sales order information, and presented to the Engineering Manager for approval.

Business Contacts - Significant contacts with customers and component vendors requires a professional manner.

Minimum Requirements:

Education/Experience– Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent PREFFERED, BUT NOT REQUIRED. Associate Degree plus experience, or Military experience, are encouraged to apply. Prior experience in related or similar electronics equipment manufacturing and assembly business environment is desirable. Design experience in electronic packaging and / or sheet metal design is desirable.

Knowledge - Thorough understanding of basic PC functions, features and applications related to industrial environments; proficiency with all aspects computers, including hardware, software and applications; experience with AutoCAD.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: Up to $60,000.00 per year (depending on education, experience, etc)
