Job Description

This position will report to the Engineering Manager and support efforts in the Engineering Department. The Engineering Department is responsible for executing continuous improvement ideas, the design and fabrication of production equipment, production machine repair and maintenance, facilities repair and maintenance, and assisting in product development efforts. The ideal candidate will have a strong mechanical aptitude, a desire to work in a hands-on environment and an exceptional attention to detail. This position is at our office in Plymouth, MA.

Responsibilities

· Designing parts and assemblies using SolidWorks for 3D Printing and contracted machining /fabrication.

· Create detailed drawings for machining and fabrication; determine critical design tolerances.

· Manage the sourcing of parts and materials, coordinate with external vendors to meet project timelines.

· Utilize rapid prototyping and an iterative design process to improve manufacturing by analyzing existing equipment and processes, developing ideas for improvements, then implementing those ideas.

· Maintain a clean and well-organized work environment; perform regular cleaning of engineering workspace and lab.

· Finish designated projects with keen attention to detail while adhering to project deadlines.

· Participate in fabrication & assembly of production machines, perform testing, and modify parts as needed. This includes drilling, tapping, welding, riveting, bending, grinding, sandblasting, and other related processes.

· Collaborate effectively with team members of all levels of the organization and backgrounds utilizing strong communication and interpersonal skills.

· Perform maintenance and troubleshooting on existing machinery and facilities equipment.

· Utilize critical thinking skills to analyze complex problems and develop innovative solutions to optimize performance and efficiency.

· Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information around product development and testing.

· Provide support to manufacturing by answering questions and requests from Production Team.

· Participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing efforts.

· Utilize Salesforce to manage work, place requisitions, and improve productivity.

· Engage with outside vendors for purchases of new equipment and custom machinery.

· Provide feedback and updates on projects to internal staff during weekly recurring Engineering meetings and quarterly company-wide meetings.

· Learn the company’s product portfolio and understand the products’ associated applications.

Required Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

· Proficiency in SolidWorks; designing complex parts and assemblies and producing detailed drawings for machining and fabrication.

· Mechanical aptitude; understanding of various fastening techniques, materials, pneumatics, and manufacturing processes.

· Effective time management skills; ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.

· Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; requires communication and collaboration with team members of all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

· Machine shop experience or desire to learn; comfortable operating a manual mill and lathe.

· Exposure to Electrical and Controls Engineering.

· 2+ years’ experience in a manufacturing or engineering workspace.

· Submission of a project portfolio with application is strongly recommended; professional, academic, and personal projects are acceptable.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
