Position: Landscape Designer

Job Description

Culver’s is seeking a full-time Landscape Designer within our Residential Landscape Dept. This position focuses on garden design, planting design, and sod/seed estimates; hardscape design training will be provided, and opportunities introduced over time. The candidate will be responsible for meeting with client’s to learn their gardening needs and desires. From there, the candidate will create planting designs and present their ideas to clients. The focus of this position is to provide superb customer service and secure work for our construction crews; while also producing long-lasting and appropriate landscapes for our midwestern climate.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Meet face-to-face with client’s on-site; listening to their needs and desires, make recommendations as needed, and promote a positive customer service experience.

· Design and draft planting plans and turf plans in AutoCAD.

· Create estimates for each project utilizing Dynascape 360.

· Present your designs and cost estimates in a conference room setting.

· Walk through our nursery and tree rows with clients while confidently making plant suggestions.

· Create detailed construction documents to communicate designs to our Residential Construction Project Management team.

· Site visits upon request by Project Management team, home-owner, or crew members.

· Winter duties as assigned.

· Set and meet design deadlines on a daily basis.

Required Knowledge, Skills and/or Abilities:

· Local shrub, perennial, and tree knowledge for cold-hardiness zones 4 and 5.

· Must be able to decipher and specify plant material based upon sun-angles, drainage patterns, and potential micro-climates.

· Minimum 1-year experience in garden and/or planting design.

· Maintain a professional and positive demeaner with work associates and clients representative of the Culver’s brand.

· Proactive and detailed communication skills (written and verbal).

· Able to self-manage multiple design projects, priorities and workflow.

· Working knowledge of:

· AutoCAD (or other relevant drafting experience in a CAD based program)

· MS Word, Excel, and Outlook

· Adobe InDesign (preferred but not required)

EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

· A.A. or B.A/S. Degree in Landscape Design, Landscape Architecture, and/or Horticulture.

· OR 2+ years of full-time Landscape Design/Sales experience with no degree.
