Position Summary

The HR Generalist’s primary role is to ensure that Growing Spaces is compliant with all State and Federal labor laws in addition to leading talent acquisition and managing both our safety and workers’ compensation programs. Managing recruitment, onboarding, payroll, and paid leave. Also to include an understanding of employee benefits and eligibility periods. This role also has responsibilities to ensure that the office is running smoothly by managing the cleaning company and ensuring that employees have all necessary office supplies including bathroom and kitchen supplies. This position will also assist the garden department to ensure they have the needed equipment and schedule to maintain the show domes.

General Duties and Responsibilities

● Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; continually reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.

● Updates the Employee Handbook and policies, when necessary, along with ensuring employee review and sign off.

● Writes and publishes job postings, manages applications, performs initial screening and interviews for new staff before handing off to hiring manager.

● Manages new hire onboarding such as, completion of required documents, ordering background checks and office equipment/supplies.

● Manages employee benefit enrollment during first hire and then yearly open enrollment periods.

● Manages the payroll process within our HRM system. To include submission of bi-weekly payroll. Overseeing PTO/Sick Leave requests and balances.

● Manage the security system, granting access to new employees and removing access for employees who leave the organization.

● Manages community involvement, overseeing interns from Build Pagosa Program.

● Manages workers’ compensation policy and claims.

● Manages safety programs including quarterly safety meetings with managers, ensuring we are compliant with most recent OSHA laws. Ensuring managers are providing safety training and set-up training as needed, i.e., first aid training.

● Provides support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.

● Maintains historical records by filing documents, both physically and electronically.

● Back-up front-desk so that we have front desk coverage during business hours.

● Purchase office and cleaning supplies when needed.

● Manage the cleaning crew.

● Assist the garden crew by ordering gardening supplies as needed, including conversations with the marketing department on projects as needed.

● Run errands when needed such as, picking up mail from the post office.

● Point of contact for the report of plumbing issue, heat issue, etc and contacting the appropriate person for repair.

● Other duties as assigned.

Experience/Education:

● Minimum of 2 years of experience in Human Resources, is required.

● College degree a plus!

Travel:

Running local errands when needed, such as picking up mail at the post office.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
