Stack Homes is a tech-enabled modular builder addressing the need for affordable and rapidly-built housing. Our factory features a station-based production line to efficiently construct a home in a matter of weeks.

We are in an exciting period of growth and looking to add a full-time Estimating & Purchasing Manager to our team. The position will work on-site at our manufacturing facility in West Jordan.

The position is responsible for performing estimating and budgeting on residential and commercial construction projects, primarily steel-framed. You will partner with the sales team to review plan sets and make recommendations for efficiencies and cost savings. You will create bill of materials and takeoffs and lead our procurement process by accurately assessing costs, negotiating with suppliers to ensure the best purchasing decisions, and timely place orders to meet production's needs. You will collaborate closely with our Controller and COO to optimize sourcing strategies and contribute to the overall success of our projects.

We are looking for a detail oriented problem-solver that can support the team through timely follow-through. You must be proficient in reading plan sets.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the sales team to assess new business. Review construction plans and specifications for constructability.
  • Provide timely takeoffs and labor calculations for estimates.
  • Oversee change order process, communication, and documentation.
  • Research materials suppliers and compare costs.
  • Negotiate purchase agreements.
  • Develop and execute purchasing strategies.
  • Manage and maintain positive relationships suppliers and trade partners.
  • Develop inventory controls to identify demand for new materials.
  • Track metrics to reduce expenses.
  • Conduct debriefs on projects with the Controller and COO to analyze plan vs. actual and make recommendations for enhancements.
  • Provide general back-end support to project management and operational leaders.
  • Establish and document standard operating procedures when needed.

Knowledge and Skills Required:

  • Previous estimating experience required, with steel preferred
  • Ability to read, understand, and organize construction plans and specifications
  • Excellent organization skills; ability to prioritize, multi-task, and effectively time manage to meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and great attention to detail
  • Problem-solver and forward thinker who is a driver for results
  • Positive attitude, aptitude for learning, and desire to make an impact in advancing the construction industry
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite based programs and takeoff software

Hours (Full-Time) Monday – Friday 8 am – 4:30 pm

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
