The City of Bellevue is seeking an Enterprise GIS Administrator with extensive experience in both GIS database and infrastructure administration. The successful candidate will join the Network, Systems & Security (NSS) team, working closely with the Geospatial Technology Services Team (GTS), conducting day-to-day geospatial data management activities in support of critical City functions. This position requires a strong commitment to customer service and facilitating the high availability of geospatial data stores and related applications. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
The successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing, configuring, and implementing complex IT systems that meet the needs of the City. The position’s focus will be to support the City’s GIS infrastructure, providing reliable access to on-prem and web based/cloud hosted GIS applications and solutions; ensuring that GIS data is consistently administered and reliably accessible for departmental use; utilizing best practices regarding system architecture and configuration. The successful candidate needs to have a strong technical background with extensive experience in application architecture, road-mapping, design, implementation, and system operations.GIS Infrastructure Management: Install, configure, maintain and support GIS software and hardware (e.g., ArcGIS Server, Portal). Manage user accounts, access controls, and security protocols. Perform system backups and disaster recovery procedures. Monitor system performance and troubleshoot technical issues. Stay up-to-date on GIS software updates and implement them effectively. Implement strategies for scalability and performance optimization. Integration of GIS services to cloud platforms, including scalability, performance, and cost management.Geospatial Data Management: Develop and implement data quality control procedures. Oversee data acquisition, processing, and integration from various sources. Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and completeness within the GIS database. Archive and manage historical geospatial data. Collaborate with stakeholders to define data ownership and access rights. Partner and collaborate with Data Analytics team on GIS data management.GIS Application Development: Partner with GIS team and GIS developer on the design and development of custom GIS applications and tools to meet user needs. Configure map templates, dashboards, and reports. Integrate GIS data with other enterprise systems for seamless data flow. Serve as a technical advisor to optimize application performance, with a focus on backend infrastructure support, security, and scalability.Support and Training: Provide technical support to internal customers on GIS software and applications. Develop training materials and conduct training sessions. Assist users in identifying and utilizing spatial data for their workflows.Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with stakeholders across departments to understand their GIS needs. This includes partnering with the GIS team, infrastructure team, and other teams internal to ITD and across departments. Communicate effectively the capabilities and limitations of GIS technology. Document procedures and maintain clear technical documentation.Policy Support and Coordination: Assist with the development and implement policies for the effective governance of GIS data and infrastructure, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards. Monitor and report on the performance of the GIS infrastructure, providing recommendations for improvements and upgrades.
