The right candidate for this position will possess the following skills:

Role:

Support, design, and implement engineering solutions in high-pressure aluminum die cast processes.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop Solutions: Monitor daily reports to identify problems and propose improvements to manufacturing processes, tooling, indirect processes, or infrastructure. Analyze efficiencies and space requirements to generate supporting safety-driven or cost-driven data. Recommend materials, equipment, and build vs. buy strategies.
  • Project Management: Act as the project lead for engineering projects. Lead cross-functional teams to achieve assigned objectives by creating and maintaining Gantt charts, proactively coordinating with peers and other departments, and periodically reporting progress to management.
  • Documentation: Create documentation for continued operation and maintenance following process or equipment changes, such as blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, preventative maintenance schedules, spare parts lists, calibration standards, safety procedures, etc. Support cross-functional teams in the development of FMEAs, control plans, and corrective actions.
  • Risk Assessment: Produce feasibility and risk analysis reports for management regarding new products, process changes, or business plan projects.
  • Professional Relationships: Establish professional relationships with equipment and service vendors that are strategic to the success of the position and the overall company.
  • Knowledge: Stay current with industry developments and share relevant knowledge with management for informed decision-making. Maintain an adequate understanding of product functionality and quality requirements to ensure that processes are designed to make parts to customer standards.
  • Hands-on Assistance: Provide hands-on assistance as assigned during the installation and setup of equipment and processes.
  • Maintenance Assistance: Provide engineering assistance to resolve irregular or emergency equipment maintenance problems as needed.
  • Development: Offer education, mentorship, and support to fellow engineers to create a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Communication: Share information effectively throughout the organization. Use computer, writing, and verbal communication skills to generate reports and presentations tailored for either a technical or a managerial audience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience in a high-pressure aluminum die cast environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills (preferably familiarity with 8D, Six Sigma / DMAIC problem solving)
  • Comprehension of equipment programming, physics, chemistry, and metallurgy
  • Self-motivated and a desire to work in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with project management or leading a cross-functional team
  • CAD skills in Autodesk Inventor or similar, such as SolidWorks
  • Computer skills (preferably Excel, PowerPoint, and typing)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize
  • Degree in related field or equivalent experience

Working Conditions

  • Monday – Friday
  • Travel < 1% average
  • Overtime < 4 hours per week average
  • 80% manufacturing environment / 20% office environment
  • Hands-on troubleshooting on equipment

Environmental/Working Conditions

  • Essential functions of this job require the associate to regularly: sit, stand, walk, bend, twist, carry and lift
