Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Detective Sergeant position to join our investigative team. The position will supervise a drug enforcement/ Street Crimes Unit operating out of St. Albans PD.

The ideal candidate will have three (3) years of detective experience with an emphasis on drug investigations. They will have the ability to work effectively within a self-sufficient task force concentrating on narcotics investigations as well as assisting with other BCI and road cases as assigned.

Duties:
- Conduct in-depth investigations into criminal activities
- Gather and analyze evidence to uncover facts
- Interview witnesses, suspects, and victims
- Detective skills involving narcotic casework to include informants, surveillance, and search warrants.

- Have knowledge pertaining to wire, GPS, and phone warrants.

- Thorough understanding and adherence to the Department’s Rules and Regulations, Vermont state and federal laws, and Constitutional requirements governing police activities;

- Emphasis on rules and regulations regarding investigations and search warrants

- Perform the duties assigned and ensure that the policies and orders of the Department are carried out;

- Be able to supervise officer(s) under their command;

- Be able to maintain harmonious relationships with officer(s) and other members of the Department, local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, county and federal prosecutors, and the general public;

- Investigate all crimes assigned;

- Prepare required correspondence, and reports and maintain records relating to the activities of the command;

- Communicates information up and down the chain of command;

- Assist in the organizing and conducting of personnel training programs associated with the unit;

Requirements:
- MUST BE A LEVEL III CERTIFIED LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER in VERMONT

- Proven experience in criminal investigation or law enforcement
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent report writing abilities
- Proficient in surveillance techniques
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge of legal procedures and regulations related to investigations

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $68,723.20 - $90,688.00 per year
