Job Title: Database Engineer
Location: Sunnyvale, CA – Onsite – Local candidates only
Period: 05/06/2024 to 12/31/2024 – possibility of extension
Hours/Week: 40 hours
Rate: $50-$55/hour (Hours over 40 will be paid at Time and a Half)
Contract Type: W-2



Scope of Services:

The Database Engineer provides comprehensive technical expertise in managing database management systems, including architecture, installation, and support of DBMS software. Responsibilities include technical support for data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) tools, database administration, backup and recovery, and capacity planning. The role involves designing, securing, and maintaining data structures for corporate computer systems and providing assistance to Systems Analysts. Database administration activities encompass modifications, enhancements, expansions, and compliance with corporate and divisional policies and procedures. The Database Engineer contributes to performance monitoring, capacity planning, and the evaluation of new database software, utilities, and tools.


Role, Responsibilities, and Deliverables:

  • Design and implement database applications in SQL and other programming languages such as Python, Java, or C#.
  • Provide in-depth technical expertise related to the ongoing maintenance and support of the database software. ( i.e.: Oracle, DB2, IDMS, SQL/SERVER).
  • Responsible for designing, securing, and maintaining the data structures used to store data for corporate computer systems such as GDMS, GQMS(CAPA), Aegis (Adverse Event).
  • Support application development by ensuring adherence to design specifications and coding standards for medical devices.
  • Contribute to reviews and provide feedback on related projects.
  • Prepare detailed design specifications and assist in the modification of source code.
  • Participate in test phase efforts and present at design reviews. Support company initiatives and comply with regulatory requirements, including FDA regulations.


Experience:

  • 7-10 years of combined experience, including at least 2-5 years in systems and/or network administration.
  • Technical training in Database Administration, Performance and Tuning, and Backup and Recovery.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with clients and IT management and staff.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of the systems development life cycle is preferred.
