We are currently seeking a Database Administrator III – Systems Administrator to support a current proposal effort with our customer located in Washington, DC (with an additional location in Hillcrest Heights, MD).

RCG, Inc. is a Federal Contractor specializing in IT Services, we are seeking a highly motivated Database Administrator III to support a current proposal effort at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. This position will provide System Administration Services.

The DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR III reviews, evaluates, designs, implements and maintains company database[s]. Identifies data sources, constructs data decomposition diagrams, provides data flow diagrams and documents the process. Writes codes for database access, modifications, and constructions including stored procedures. Develops and formulates standards, procedures, and conventions for database use. Works with technical/programming staff to ensure database security. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. Typically reports to a project leader or manager. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Manage user accounts, credentials, permissions, access rights, storage allocations, and active directory administration.
• Document user account creation and termination
• Document tasks performed and comply with the risk management framework regarding documentation and security;
• Builds, configures, and troubleshoots software enhancements, application deployments and up-grades;
• Troubleshoot networks;
• Maintain data files and monitor system configuration to ensure data integrity;
• Report IT status to government and program managers;
• Provide support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for client/server/storage/network devices;
• Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems.
• Manage user access and permissions to all systems and data.
• Perform daily security backups and restores.
• Manage all monitoring and alerting throughout applications and infrastructure.
• Monitor important network metrics (CPU, usage, DNS, latency, etc.) in order to quickly detect incidents as they occur.

Clearance:

• Public Trust, or the ability to obtain one is required.

Basic Qualifications - Required Experience, Skills:

• Bachelor’s Degree and four to six (4-6) years of relevant experience.
• Excellent English language communication skills, both verbal and written.

Desired Experience, Skills, Knowledge:

• Experience deploying, managing, and operating scalable, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems on AWS.
• Knowledge of networking concepts (e.g., DNS, TCP/IP, and firewalls).
• Working knowledge of a wide range of datacenter technologies including: Linux Administration, Local (LAN) and wide-area networks (WAN); Network protocols.
• Proficient in RHEL and AWS.
• Proficient with MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and solid data entry skills.
