Employment Information

We are seeking a database administrator who has a passion to solve challenging and complex problems. The candidate will work in a team environment monitoring and tuning databases focusing on SQL Server.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Trace applications sessions for performance problems, recognizing problematic SQL statements
  • Tune SQL statements
  • Collaborate closely with the architecture, leadership and client support
  • Create, export, import, and backup relational databases
  • Work directly with engineering teams providing guidance for queries and database interactions
  • Champion SQL and database best practices
  • Build process for application version upgrade scripts
  • Read and understand PL/SQL or Transact?SQL stored procedures across a large scale enterprise level database
  • Review development scripts for conformance to established standards
  • Detect performance problems using tooling, scripts and testing
  • Troubleshoot and provide clear explanations of data layer performance problems

Skills & Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management or related field.
  • Two (2) to four (4) years' experience with relational databases, either at the SQL or service management level.
  • Healthcare data experience is preferred
  • Experience with relational database concepts
  • Experience working on production systems.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

  • Proficient with Microsoft SQL Server
  • PL/SQL or Transact-SQL programming; experience with Postgres and Amazon Aurora is a plus
  • Familiarity database performance analyzers
  • Understanding of Disk Storage Management Techniques
  • Outstanding communications and interpersonal skills, experience working in a global team preferred
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to create technical documentation
  • Ability to work issues to successful resolution

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • While at work, this position is primarily a sedentary job and requires that the associate can work in an environment where they will consistently be seated for the majority of the workday
  • This role requires that one can sit and regularly type on a keyboard the majority of the workday
  • Hybrid position. Must work on-site three (3) days per week as scheduled by the company
  • This position requires the ability to observe a computer screen for long periods of time to observe their own and others’ work, as well as in-coming and out-going communications via the computer and/or mobile devices
  • The role necessitates the ability to listen and speak clearly to customers and other associates

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $86,000.00 per year
