Overview: Implements lean and continuous improvement

Responsibilities: The essential functions of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

1. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods and quality control standards

2. Plans and supports the implementation of Lean Manufacturing activities ie: Toyota production system, VSM, TPM etc.

3. Implements manufacturing process improvements on new and existing products

4. Utilizes proven Lean Manufacturing-based analytical, troubleshooting, problem solving abilities to identify opportunities for cost reduction, inventory reduction and quality improvement

5. Assembles and leads cross-functional teams through the Lean improvement processes to ensure project objectives are met

6. Optimizes floor layout, material flow and tooling change processes through implementation of Lean concepts that may involve automation, TPS, TPM, VSM, Standard work etc.

7. Supports Lean Manufacturing training and implementation projects

8. Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirement, workflow and designs layouts of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency

9. Confers with management, engineering and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes

10. Evaluates and completes performance evaluations

11. Participates in interview and hiring process

12. Responsible for the accountability and disciplinary action of team

13. Lead and facilitate a small cross function staff to reduce lead-times improve on time delivery and reduce cost

14. Mentor and train managers and supervisor on the lean tools

15. Additional responsibilities and projects, as assigned

16. Complies with all company policies, procedures, and safety rules

Education, Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related discipline and a minimum 5 years related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a Toyota production system, Value stream mapping, standard work, total productive maintenance, and other lean activities
  • Demonstrated experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5-S and/or Kaizen, VSM, TPM, TPS is required (Black belt certification or lean certification a plus)
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis
  • A basic understanding of the AS9100 standards and quality systems and technical competency in the assigned commodities
  • Must have hands on experience in the use of basic and complex inspection measuring and test equipment including ability to train other individuals
  • Good organizational skills as well as the ability to coordinate the efforts of other team members
  • Must be a team player with very strong technical and communication skills

Rate: $2005.26 - $3007.92 It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.

Pay: $2,005.28 - $3,007.92 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
