SUMMARY
The primary responsibility of the officer is to ensure the safety of the motoring public on Bossier Parish roadways through an active weight enforcement program. Traffic enforcement to include all roadways in Bossier Parish.

To regulate all traffic on Bossier Parish Highways to include:

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must be able to properly change a flat tire on a vehicle, weight simulation of a 6-axle commercial motor vehicle (3) and the dummy drag. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. There will be a primary FTO period of 90-days that may be followed by a second 90-day FTO period if necessary.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and completion of post certified academy with minimum two (2) years of law enforcement experience or the equivalent as deemed by the Bossier Parish Police Jury.
SPECIAL NOTE:
Random drug testing is conducted on all Highway employees.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, interpret, and follow written instructions provided by supervisor, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must also possess the ability to write routine reports and be able to communicate effectively and professionally with the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply simple mathematical concepts such as; calculating dimensions, proportions, percentages, area, or volume.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with standardized situations in a professional manner with only occasional or no variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Normal corrected vision is required. He/She must be able to drive a regular vehicle to various sites around the parish.
