POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the guidance and supervision of the fitness manager, this person has responsibility for delivery of assigned YMCA fitness and wellness services. This person is responsible for designing exercise programs and assisting clients with their exercise routine. The Personal Trainer provides individual, small group and/or class instruction in fitness program development, strength and cardiovascular training. This position functions to enhance customer service by providing member assistance in the fitness areas while keeping facilities neat and running smoothly. This person will also be responsible for equipment, orientation, and member engagement and value initiatives during assigned floor time.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS: (experience, skills, and certifications that are required to perform job)

  • Nationally certified as Personal Trainer (ACE, ACSM, etc.)
  • Additional Required Certifications: CPR, AED, First Aid
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and display a high level of customer service
  • Highly organized, with computer skills for tracking personal training clients
  • 5+ years personal training experience
  • YMCA or not for profit experience preferred

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Personal Training Sessions
  • Develop individualized exercise programs for health and well-being seekers.
  • Conduct fitness assessments following YMCA guidelines.
  • Conduct assessment on first personal training consultation for every client.
  • Follow up assessments every 6-8 weeks to track progression.
  • Keeps accurate records of health and well-being seekers’ progress.
  • Conduct group personal training classes for a wide variety of clientele.
  • Contacts clients on a regular basis to follow up on progression of their wellness program.
  • Ensures safe and effective workouts. Responds to, and reports accidents, incidents and equipment problems.
  • Assures professional growth through CEC’s. Responsible for maintaining current Personal Training Certification, CPR, AED and First Aid.
  • Communications/Scheduling
  • Attends staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Responds to all communication from clients and supervisor (emails, phone messages, texts) within 24 hours of scheduled shift.
  • Keeps track of sessions scheduled in PT scheduler. Responsible for tracking client’s sessions, keeping clients informed of sessions remaining, and only trains clients with sessions previously purchased.
  • Input all appointments/client sessions 2 weeks in advance.

Pay: $20.00 - $27.00 per hour
