Our company is looking to add a new addition as a Full-Time Assistant Operations Manager in Comstock Park, MI. This is a hybrid position, and candidates will need to reside in the Comstock Park, MI area to be considered for this opportunity.

An Assistant Operations Manager provides support to the operations manager in overseeing daily business activities. They manage staff, create schedules, and ensure that tasks are completed efficiently and effectively. They also maintain customer satisfaction by addressing complaints and resolving issues. Overall, an assistant manager of operations works to ensure that the organization runs smoothly and meets its goals and objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Accept and unload trucks, sort, and organize freight for delivery
  • Assist Operations Managers & Directors in day-to-day operations
  • Schedule and communicate with contractors and company drivers to ensure timely deliveries
  • Operate dispatch software to ensure all routes & orders are properly assigned
  • Manage drivers to meet on-time requirements and efficiency levels
  • Completion of specified daily reports and assist with fleet management
  • Monitor driver electronic logs, driver scorecards, and E-log hardware to ensure DOT compliance
  • Assist contractors in preparing their cargo for delivery
  • Abide by FMSCA's rules and regulations
  • Follow company's guidelines for safety policies and procedures
  • Cover routes when needed
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by management

Schedule: Monday to Saturday 6:30am to 4pm.

  • Hours are subject to change depending on business needs. Open availability including nights and weekends.

Pay: $55k Annually

Requirements:

  • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Suite applications
  • Ability to be flexible, adaptable, and work in a fast-paced work environment
  • Forklift experience preferred

Travel & Work Conditions:

  • Occasionally required to lift up to 105 pounds
  • Travel up to 20% when needed
  • Exposure to when outside or driving
  • Primarily sedentary work environment and occasionally requires heavy work strength levels

Education and Experience:

  • 2+ years of working experience in Operations or Logistics Management
  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management or a related field preferred
  • 2+ years of work experience in an administrative role
  • Possesses a valid CDL Class B driver's license with Hazmat Endorsement with no more than 2 moving violations or at fault accidents in the last 3 years
  • NOTE: You will have 30 Days from date of hire to obtain Hazmat Endorsement if not already held
  • Associated Couriers will cover the cost of obtaining a CDL-B License backed by a 1-year promissory note of employment
  • Pass a Security Threat Assessment (STA) from the Transportation & Security Administration (TSA) to handle items for air cargo and deliver said items to the airport for shipment and maintain this authorization
  • Ability to pass a DOT drug test to meet FMSCA requirements

Work Authorization:

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without any type of work authorization or work sponsorship now or in the future
