Job Title: Apprentice Maintenance Planner (CFR 14, Part 121, Cargo Airline)

Reports to: Manager of Maintenance Planning

Department: Maintenance Planning


A. Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Read, write, speak, and understand the English Language.
  • General knowledge in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook.

B. Character Qualities:

  • High level of attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn.

c. Preferred experience/certificates (not required):

  • Work experience and/or student in aviation maintenance.
  • General knowledge of large aircraft systems and structures (Boeing Model 747, 767, & 777).
  • General knowledge of large aircraft manuals (e.g. AMM, CMM, IPC, MPD, etc...).
  • Experience in reading and understanding Airworthiness Directives (AD), Service Bulletins (SB), and Engineering Orders (EO).
  • Mechanic certificate with Airframe & Powerplant ratings (CFR 14, Part 65 D).

NOTE: Equivalent military knowledge/experience in the areas listed above is acceptable.


D. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:

  • The Apprentice Maintenance Planner reports to the Manager/Supervisor of Maintenance Planning.

E. BASIC FUNCTION:

  • Assist in the standard planning functions of monitoring, reporting, scheduling, and issuing routine/scheduled maintenance to ensure coordinated on-time accomplishment/compliance. Use the AMOS database to monitor aircraft times, create and update reports, and assist in preparing work packages.

F. DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the preparation of work-scopes, work-packages, and work-orders for maintenance checks of all levels.
  • Assist in researching maintenance task history.
  • Assist in maintaining materials (parts & tools) pre-draw lists.
  • As directed, monitor the TAT, TAC, flight schedule, projected Flight Hours (FH) & Flight Cycles (FC), and geographic locations of aircraft.
  • As directed, monitor the time remaining on routine/scheduled maintenance tasks (to include time controlled components & maintenance checks) for aircraft/engines/components.
  • As directed, produce Hard Time and Life Limit reports for aircraft/engines/components.
  • Assist in maintaining an AD and SB hard copy library.
  • Assist in maintaining departmental manuals.
  • Assist in auditing maintenance work packages.
  • As directed, update maintenance planning forecasts, reports, and logs.
  • As directed, create forecasts and reports (MS Word & Excel)
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Planning Manager/Supervisor.
