A&P Mechanic or IA Mechanic

Are you passionate about general aviation maintenance? Accelerated Aviation Instruction, LLC Flight School is seeking A&P or IA mechanic for a flight school operation in the Owatonna, MN area. The Mechanic is directly responsible for troubleshooting, repair, disassembly, and service of aircraft, components, and engine systems. Mechanic will maintain general aviation piston singles and light twins.

You will need to take ownership of daily tasks:

  • Maintain all aircraft, components, and systems as assigned in compliance with specifications and FAA regulations
  • Must be knowledgeable and have the ability to inspect, service and repair airplanes
  • Troubleshoot system and component malfunctions and perform necessary maintenance work or re-work using various tools and diagnostic devices
  • Ability to read gauges, understand instrumentation and diagnostic tools when assessing and repairing aircraft
  • Remove and replace defective components
  • Inspect all documents to ensure that repairs and preventative maintenance was performed correctly
  • Ensure that all inspections, services and repairs are completed and documented properly
  • Must be able to work on all aspects (except instruments) of the airplane i.e. electrical systems, engine, landing gear, brakes and pumps, other internal and external parts
  • Perform maintenance on Ground Service Equipment as needed
  • Maintain all pertinent documentation - logbooks and historical data as required
  • Clean and maintain exterior and interior of aircraft
  • Ability to solve mechanical problems quickly and have the physical ability to move about when working on airplanes.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Job Requirements: Skills & Abilities/Desired

  • Education: Graduate of an approved FAA school, FAA-approved training program.
  • Computer Skills: Computer skills using Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Word preferred.
  • Minimum: Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License is Desired or VA Helicopter maintenance working toward A&P License for consideration
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Basic Math and Measurement Skills
  • Strong communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Must be 18 years old
  • Knowledge of computers and electronics
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Must read, speak, write, and understand English
  • Own a set of aircraft mechanic tools
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
  • Pick up a 75-lb object from the floor, carry 100 feet, and place object back on floor
  • Stand, sit, squat, kneel, lie on your stomach, lay on your back, and tolerate small, enclosed spaces for at least 10 minutes at a time.
  • Available to work overtime as necessary
  • Climb and descend a ladder

Preferred Abilities:

  • FAA IA certification
  • Piper, Beech, Cessna or Diamond experience

Salary Range:$25-$45 per hour
