Job Summary: This position is responsible to plan, lay out, fabricate, modify, repair, assemble, and install aircraft sheet metal parts and assemblies (hereafter referred to as “items”), as needed that are used on Bemidji Aviation’s fleet of aircraft. These will have combined straight and curved edges or irregular curves and planes.

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrate ongoing understanding and capabilities in knowledge of equipment, air craft structure, materials, etc.
  • Demonstrate ongoing ability to interpret instructions, specifications, etc. (ex: blueprint reading)
  • Demonstrate layout and pattern development including Geometric Projection and Triangulation
  • Use precision measuring tools to determine that items conform to technical data.
  • Perform visual and/or operational test/inspections during/after assembly of items as required by technical data to determine airworthiness
  • Perform all work in accordance with approved technical data, task cards and industry standards.
  • Perform work with extreme attention to detail.
  • Maintain a clean work environment.
  • Conform to and comply with industry safety standards
  • Safely and accurately utilize a variety of hand tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Technicians report to their respective Lead and are ultimately responsible to the Director of Maintenance and Chief Inspectors.
  • 3-5 years mechanical background preferred.
  • Must be able to read and write English. Be able to comprehend and apply information contained in technical manuals
  • Must be able to document maintenance performed on required forms by writing and/or typing it into a computer.
  • Must be detailed oriented.
  • Must own their own set of tools. Minimum tool list will be provided upon request.
  • Ability to productively work alone.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Must pass a pre-employment DOT Drug testing
  • Be authorized to work in the USA.
