Job Summary:

As an Aerospace Weld Technician, you will be responsible for performing precision welding on aerospace components and structures, ensuring that all welding work meets industry standards and specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced, high-pressure manufacturing environment and will possess a strong attention to detail. You will work closely with a team of engineers and other technical professionals, and your work will be critical to the success of aerospace projects such as spacecraft, aircraft, and other vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform precision welding on aerospace components and structures using a variety of welding techniques such as Friction Stir Weld, TIG, MIG, and resistance welding
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements
  • Set up and operate welding equipment, including selecting appropriate materials, gases, and welding techniques to ensure high-quality results
  • Inspect finished welds for defects, including cracks, porosity, and undercutting, using visual inspection methods and non-destructive testing techniques such as x-ray, ultrasonic, or magnetic particle inspection
  • Maintain welding equipment and ensure that all tools and equipment are in good working order
  • Complete documentation related to welding processes, including weld logs, inspection reports, and test results
  • Collaborate with other technicians, engineers, and quality control personnel to ensure that all welding work meets industry standards and customer specifications
  • Stay up to date with new welding techniques, technologies, and materials and share knowledge with other team members

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, with additional training or certification in welding
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in aerospace welding
  • Proficiency in a variety of welding techniques, including TIG, MIG, and resistance welding
  • Familiarity with friction stir welding
  • Experience working with various materials and alloys, including titanium, aluminum, and stainless steel
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment
  • Familiarity with non-destructive testing techniques such as x-ray, ultrasonic, or magnetic particle inspection
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure manufacturing environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues

Location Requirement: This position is located on a federal facility. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and are required to pass a comprehensive background check to meet the security clearance standards necessary for work in this environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
