Summary

Come to work for the most prestigious Medical School in the Texas Medical Center and learn about retirement plans from the ground up! As a Coordinator, Benefits, you will educate and help prepare employees as they set the groundwork for preparing for retirement. You will also assist employees with retirement benefit questions and ensure compliance with required benefit regulations.

Job Duties

  • Administers various employee benefits programs, such as group health, flexible spending accounts, dental and vision, accident and disability, life insurance, 401(k), and wellness benefits.
  • Assists with benefits orientations and explains benefits self-enrollment system.
  • Assists employees with the completion of forms and with open enrollment questions.
  • Collects employee information for reports and statistical research.
  • Maintains employee benefits filing systems and ensures benefits changes are entered appropriately in HR system for payroll deduction.
  • Assists employees with health, dental, life and other related benefit claims.
  • Assists in completing benefits reporting requirements.
  • Assists with special projects as needed.
  • Returns mail organization and responses to participants and Fidelity; bad address mail response to Fidelity to ensure auto-enrollment for 403(b).
  • Assists with death claims, including those deceased participants identified through the Fidelity location process each year.
  • Assists with retirement communications and financial wellness planning and coordination.
  • Assists manager with administrative responsibilities, i.e., scheduling and communications for BAC meetings, reporting for wellness points, etc.
  • Assists with communications for:
    • Emeriti newly eligible emails
    • Term employee letters (Emeriti/RHSP)
    • 457b monthly newly eligible emails
    • Retiree Letters twice monthly
    • MRD letter mailout annually
    • MRD letter mailout monthly
  • Handles Iron Mountain requests and returns.
  • Monitors Ask-retirement alias email response and backs-up for vacations, sick days, etc.
  • Backs up for loans and distributions processing.
  • Assists team members with audit response.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Two years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelors Degree in a related field.
  • Two years of experience with retirement plans, preferably with 403(b) plans.
  • Experience using SAP, and Fidelity administrative system.
  • Intermediate to expert skills in Microsoft Office products.
